M&G UK Select A Acc manager Mike Felton has temporarily stepped down from his role at the group after being diagnosed with leukemia.
Citywire A-rated Felton is starting medical treatment immediately and hopes to make a full recovery.
Michael Felton is one of the most respected fund managers in the UK and has been rated by Citywire for 63 of the 68 months he has been eligible, a 93% coverage rate.
Garfield Kiff, manager of the M&G UK Growth fund and deputy manager of M&G UK Select will lead manage Felton’s fund in his absence.
Kiff joined M&G’s UK equity team in February 2000 and has worked closely with Felton since he joined M&G at the beginning of 2005 in the newly created role of head of UK equities.
Felton took the reins of what was then called the M&G Capital fund from David Jane after joining the group from F&C.
An M&G spokeswoman said: ‘We expect Mike to be able to return to work at the beginning of 2009. Our best wishes and support go to Mike and his family during this difficult time.’
