Barclays Wealth has expanded its advisory business to Monaco in the latest step in its drive to grow the business.

The wealth giant has established a local Société À Responsabilité Limitée (SARL) and appointed Simon Morris, who has worked at the firm’s Geneva office since 2005 and its Jersey office since 2009, to head up the service in Monaco.

He will work alongside Barclays Wealth’s Monaco-based private bankers to ‘support the increased focus on high and ultra high net worth clients’, the company said.

Head of wealth advisory Rob Withecombe said Monaco was an important location for the wealth advisory business, which included estate planning and asset protection.

He added: ‘Barclays Wealth Advisory leads with advice on complex wealth management needs such as estate planning and asset protection, drawing on our expertise to bring the global capability of Barclays to bear for entrepreneurs, their businesses, successful private individuals and their families, wherever they are in the world.’
