A post-football career that has seen Paul ‘Gazza’ Gascoigne battle drink, pies, the chairman of Kettering Town, and the police who tried to stop him taking Raoul Moat on a fishing trip, took a turn for the mundane when in February last year the High Court ordered him to pay HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) more than £30,000 or face bankruptcy.

I think it rather unlikely that in 2005 U2 earned around £30 from every living man, woman and child on the planet. I know for a fact that I didn't spend £30 on them that year. I think the caption should say they earned £192 million not £192 billion. Easy enough mistake to make. Though best not when filling in a tax return.

Come on guys, there is a better story here.
You know most of these 'famous' people persuade themselves to follow 'professional' advice. Can you publish the names of the advisory firms that get their UK clients into such difficulties?
PS U2 did not feel the wrath of the tax authorities. They simply moved their earnings abroad.

The moral of Ken Dodds tax tale is always opt for a jury trial in Liverpool. Never fails.
