Former Old Mutual Equity Income manager Stephen Message has joined Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) as a member of the group's global income team.
His appointment follows the exit of Adrian Darley, who was responsible for LGIM's UK equity income mandates. According to the Financial Conduct Authority register, Darley left the company at the start of the year and was responsible for UK equity income mandates at the group.
Message left Old Mutual in December, leaving behind the Old Mutual UK Equity Income fund, since taken over by Ed Meier.
Message joined Old Mutual in 2008 as a senior analyst in the group's large cap team. A year later he replaced Michael Gifford on the firm's equity income and extra income funds.
Message was previously AAA-rated by Citywire. Over five years to the end of December, he delivered 82% at the helm of the UK Equity Income fund, ahead of a sector average of 73%.
A spokesperson for LGIM said: 'Stephen joined the global income team... as a fund manager with a focus on UK income strategies.'
